A reference for all those interested in Atex and UK1 hazardous area (Hazloc) requirements and equipment. Starting with basic principles the intention is to clarify a lot of misunderstanding about Hazardous areas and equipment including changes now we have finally left the EU.

Formerly www.atex.info, a private site for training purposes, www.hazardex.com is now public and currently being rewritten and updated to include Brexit information and the new UKCA Hazardous area Certification for the UK.
It is an ongoing project and does not currently deal with cover Group I Mining equipment or details of the design requirements of apparatus for a Type Certificate application, perhaps that will follow.
Please Note: This site is not affiliated to the IML Group, Hazardex magazine or conference.

Topics covered include: Ex logo

Notes

  1. Where Atex is referenced, with the exception of legal requirements and titles of legal documents all technical information contained in this website is valid for the UK implementation.

  2. With apologies to our Northern Ireland colleagues, the references to UK legal status does not necessarily include Northern Ireland as it has its own regulations and requirements under the Brexit agreement.
